Recognising itunes playlist/migrating from Dot.Tunes

Hi all,

I work for a music licensing company, and we have a library of some 65000+ songs. This library is stored on one mac in the office, which is synched remotely to the web via Dot.Tunes.

We've been using Dot.Tunes' paid service for a couple of years now to host and organise the library remotely. Dot.Tunes has most of the functionality we need (ability to set up different user accounts and for these accounts to show only specific playlists, ability to connect to multiple remote iTunes libraries anywhere simultaneously, download capabilities, ability so recognise and synch with specific itunes playlists etc) but it's totally unstable, slow and buggy, to the point of being almost unusable.

Which is why we're now trying out Subsonic. I've been playing around with it for a couple of days, but can't seem to find a way for it to recognise itunes playlists. It recognises my library straight away, but no playlist. Is there a functionality for this?

The main way we use our library, aside from just storing music, is to create playlists in itunes, and then upload them to our web server with specific logins associated with them to allow external clients to be able to see and download specific playlists.

If this functionality is possible with Subsonic, we would be very happy to migrate our library over to it and use it exclusively (and would also donate generously, of course.)

Any help much appreciated.

Many thanks,

Pete

I use the windows version of this to export my itunes playlists to a m3u palylist. Create the m3u playlists in a folder that you can point subsonic to under the "general" settings.
Works like a charm for me!

Hi,

There is no native support for iTunes playlists in Subsonic, so you have to convert them to m3u, pls or xspf playlist first.

iTunes playlist integration is the one thing keeping me from using Subsonic.
I manage all my music by playlists, and they're constantly being updated. Manually updating/exporting them isn't a solution for me.
Also support for SongBird would be nice. I'm thinking of switching to it when I dump my iPhone for Android.
