Can stream on local LAN, but not over internet

Postby tgakk » Thu Apr 29, 2010 7:27 pm

New to subsonic. I have subsonic set up and working fine on my local lan. I also set up port forwarding and can pull up the subsonic page and my music from anywhere on the web. However, when I click on a song over the web, it doesn't play any sound (trust me, my volume is turned up). I just downloaded the Android app as well and have tried on both a wireless network and over 3g to get this work and when I try to play a song (just stream it), it gives me an error stating "Error downloading <track>". For one, I'm not trying to download it, just stream. My setup at home is cable modem -> ooma hub ->router->machine with subsonic on it. I changed the default port from 80 to 8091 and again, it pulls up fine over the web and I can view my music. Just can't get any audio over my phone or on an actual computer. Locally on my lan, everything plays fine with no errors. Any assistance would be appreciated.

I was able to get it working on my new HTC Incredible with the Android App. The Incredible has 8 gb of built in memory, but it appears that the app is trying to cache to the SD card only. I inserted an SD card and it started working. I haven't tried over the web again, but I'll give it a try and post back if I'm still having issues.

I believe the Incredible is the first Android phone with any significant onboard storage, this probably won't be the first app that normally caches to the SD card that will have problems til the app developers update their applications to deal with the phone accordingly.
