Subsonic Windows Service Starting then Stopping. Won't Start

For some reason Subsonic won't start on my windows xp machine. It had worked before.
When I go to services and try to start the program, windows tells me its starting then being stopped. "Some services stop automatically if they have no work to do."
I tried disabling my antivirus and I still get the same error.
Any ideas?

I suggest you have a look in the log files:
c:\Program Files\Subsonic\log\subsonic-service.log
c:\Subsonic\subsonic.log

I actually lost my log files on an uninstall and reinstall. Even with the reinstall the problem still exists. Not sure what's shutting it down, or why its stopping as soon as it starts.

I've started a post earlier about the same problem but didn't get reactions, so I post it in yours if you don't mind.
After the reinstall it is missing both files that you specified.
The file c:\Subsonic\subsonic.log does not exsist and in the folder c:\Program Files\Subsonic\log\ only contains subsonic-agent.log which contains the following:
31 [main] INFO org.springframework.context.support.ClassPathXmlApplicationContext - Refreshing org.springframework.context.support.ClassPathXmlApplicationContext@32fb4f: display name [org.springframework.context.support.ClassPathXmlApplicationContext@32fb4f]; startup date [Sat May 01 12:14:32 CEST 2010]; root of context hierarchy
125 [main] INFO org.springframework.beans.factory.xml.XmlBeanDefinitionReader - Loading XML bean definitions from class path resource [applicationContext-agent.xml]
453 [main] INFO org.springframework.context.support.ClassPathXmlApplicationContext - Bean factory for application context [org.springframework.context.support.ClassPathXmlApplicationContext@32fb4f]: org.springframework.beans.factory.support.DefaultListableBeanFactory@1ccce3c
469 [main] INFO org.springframework.beans.factory.support.DefaultListableBeanFactory - Pre-instantiating singletons in org.springframework.beans.factory.support.DefaultListableBeanFactory@1ccce3c: defining beans [service, agent]; root of factory hierarchy
However i've bacupped the previous subsonic installation c:\subsonic folder and that one contains a subsonic.log file with the following content:
[2010-04-19 18:19:42,156] INFO DaoHelper - Checking database schema.
[2010-04-19 18:19:48,000] INFO DaoHelper - Done checking database schema.
[2010-04-19 18:19:50,296] INFO SearchService - Automatic index creation scheduled to run every 1 day(s), starting at Tue Apr 20 03:00:00 CEST 2010
[2010-04-19 18:19:51,234] INFO PodcastService - Automatic Podcast update disabled.
hope that it can help..

No worries. Sorry I missed your previous post. I've been wanting to reformat my computer for a while. I'll post what happens when I reinstall the service.

Found the problem at my computer (not the computer of the starter of this post). Firewall... Comodo defender checks running processes and blocked for some reason subsonic-services.exe after a while.
Now it works fine again.
Hope that you can find your problem also combo2000

I have the same issue on Windows 7 Home Premium. I have removed my firewall and all security apps to try and identify the problem. No luck.
The service starts then stops. I have used this wonderful app for a long time and suddenly one day it just quit working.
My log files do not exist in the specified locations, even with hidden files shown.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

OK, so after looking back in the forum it turned out to be a corrupt installation of Java. I ran a java test from the Sun website.
http://java.com/en/download/help/testvm.xml
My browser immediately crashed.
Once I reinstalled java on my PC and was able to a successful test from the above site. Subsonic worked again. Hooray problem solved!

Excellent! I did the reformat I was wanting to do. Updated to windows xp3, reinstalled the service and everything works great.
Thanks for the info on the Java install! I probably had the same issue.
