Multi-User Server Confusion

I am hosting subsonic on a fairly high traffic server. We do not use LDAP and yet want to give everyone access to subsonic without making individual accoutns (they already have accounts in /etc/passwd). My solution was to give out a single password and then place subsonic behind apache PAM auth.

A problem occurs though where subsonic mysteriously will insert songs into other users playlists. I think it only occurs if the IPs are the same, but it is isn't clear. The problem certainly does not always manifest, but when enough users are logged in the problem is evident.

Is there a way to fix this or are there plans for PAM auth in subsonic?

We'd prefer not to install LDAP for various reasons.

Oh, also we intend to donate once we have everything setup and launched. At the moment we're talking to our funding sources and trying to fix this bug.

Would also love to see a PAM authentification option.
Alternatively a little help on how we can use pwauth https://code.google.com/archive/p/pwauth/ to solve this.
