Going from 4.0 Beta 2 to 4.0 release wipes out everything

I'm glad I have a backup but I'd like to get on the 4.0 release. Which files do I need to move over to keep users / settings etc.

During the install it seems to remove all the files and directories before continuing with the install.

When I login now it had all users missing and back to default screens etc.

Windows 2008 R2 64bit 8GB ram
default install directory C:\subsonic

I have very similar specs to you and I am upgrading now to 4.0 from 4.0b2. I'll post back with results.

Edit: It worked for me no problem. All my settings, users, etc were untouched. Did you by any chance maybe move C:\subsonic instead of copying it when you backed it up. Settings are mostly stored in C:\subsonic\db although I think there are some settings in C:\subsonic\subsonic.properties. I think you can maybe copy your db subfolder over into the new installation as a last resort.

My current setup:
C:\subsonic has all the current files

Music sits on D:\Music\Music *i did NOT lose anything here*

When I install the program I can watch it delete the whole directory then continue with the install.

I have a script that runs everyday that backs up the C:\subsonic to D:\subsonic, then also does D:\subsonic to E:\subsonic, music is backed up to D:\Music\Music to E:\Music\Music (yes I know that's 3 copies but once you lose data it's a real bitch to get back).

You cannot straight copy over the files are the subsonic-agent and subsonic service are both running. So i'm sure that I didn't move then etc. Backups were already done before I did the install.

When I get back at work I'll go through the install again and make sure to do a run as administrator. Just kinda strange that I had this problem, as I've never had problems upgrading before.

<random question>
Will there ever be an option to setup the music by genre? Sometimes I just want a type of music.
</random question>

If you're using the Windows installer, please don't select c:/subsonic when asked where to install it - use the suggested c:/program files/subsonic.

Otherwise you will risk loosing all the settings in c:/subsonic when uninstalling/upgrading.

I'm not sure if this applies to you, but that could explain what you experienced.
