Subsonic doesn't see my router.

When choosing the option to automatically port forward on my router, the program tells me that, "Status: No router found", when I am under a router.

Also, I can't access the server through my Dyndns.org address, however, when I enter it into the Android application, the application tells me it works. When I open the music library, the application Force Closes.

Make sure that you've enabled UPnP on your router.

If you can, manually forward the port.. 4040 to the music server IP..
Try to use the routers external IP and the port 4040 FROM another connection.. (perhaps call a friend)
like this: http://178.56.34.188:4040

That will help tell you where something might be going wrong.

I have manually port forwarded to 4040, as well as attempted to connect through the external IP address. Only Localhost is working when trying to connect to the Subsonic page.

There's been a change though, now Subsonic is telling me that my port forwarding was disabled, which I had manually done. Instead, I allowed it to use UPnP which worked today. Connecting via the external IP however is not working yet.

Edit: While I cannot myself access the page via external IP address, others can as well as my phone. It works! Thanks for help guys.

Same here but with no success, it's simply doesn't work sometimes finds the router, sometimes not, saying:
Code: Select all
status: No router found
ALWAYS says my user name is registered but comes out with:
Code: Select all
ConnectTimeoutException

What's wrong here?

If your using windows it seems it might be port 80 subsoninc is using and not 4040. So try on the router to map the external port 4040 to port 80 on the PC.
With this you can get around problems the ISP might cause by blocking port 80. And then you will be using port 4040 for external use.

Also its quite normal to not be able to use the routers external IP address from inside the LAN. Its possible but you have to set things up to do it.
Just use the PCs IP address for local access as above. (if using windows it might be port 80 and not 4040 though.)

Hope I did not confuse you more.

I am using Ubuntu 10.04 and can use the router locally from my LAN IP using port 4040. I can also use a VNC connection locally and from my Android phone using 3G and my external IP address and port. I think the problem is with subsonic?

If you can use subsonic locally on the musicPC with either:
http://localhost:4040
or
http://localhost:80

Then check your musicPCs IP address and try this locally on the musicPC as you did with the "http://localhost:" test. So it looks something like http://192.168.1.10:4040

http://MusicPCIP:80
or
http://MusicPCIP:4040

Then if all this is working.
AND
If your have another PC on your LAN with no firewall in the way on either PC or restricting things on the router/switch in between.
AND
If you can also ping the musicPC and as you say VNC on to it.

Then using the http://192.168.1.10:4040 or http://192.168.1.10:80 format should work from any PC on the LAN.

If its not working !!
Then there is something stopping you getting to the PC on the necessary port.

Hope that boils it down for you a bit better.

I can VNC from 3G on my Android phone or another external WAN or Wi-Fi hotspot, accessing my computer from anywhere through VNC on a computer or my phone using 3G or Wi-Fi is possible my only issue is with Subsonic over 3G or Wi-Fi outwith my home network.

Why would the port be blocked? my router says it's not due to UpnP setting being on Automatic. I even manually configured it. Please help. Are there any setting or screenshots that may help?
