Failed to list children error and Now Playing not working.

Postby Mjkxxl » Thu Jun 10, 2010 3:52 pm

Hello, let me first start off by saying thanks for such an awesome piece of software, best software i have donated to/purchased in a long while.
My issue is the following: Last night I did some work on renaming some folders, to try and clean up how my music appears in Subsonic. Today when I logged in from my laptop here at work I get an Error pop-up box and then when I look at the log I get the following:

WARN FileUtil Failed to list children for E:\My Music\iTunes\itunes music\Alice_In_Chains-Discography

I renamed the file just Alice & Chains in order to make it look better but now I get that error.
Also, since I have done this, the Now Playing information does not show up on the far right of the Browser as it has in the past. I am not sure if these two are related, but since this error just started happening I think it is.

Some things I have noticed:

-Error occurs regardless as if I log in as admin or as one of the other accounts.

-Pretty sure I cleared the Cache in Firefox, but issue persists.

Any help or ideas on why this would happen would be great! Thanks guys!

Figured it out, just needed to restart server when I got home after making file changes. If anyone else ever has this issue, I hope it is a simple fix like mine was.

Rather than restart the whole server it seems usually to be enough to restart only the service .
On my set up I use:
sudo service subsonic restart

There are some useful things listed here about it.

It is we who live that the music may play.

This would be a great admin-only option under settings in the web interface-- "Restart SubSonic Server".
