CPU load is constantly at 100%

Postby majestic gatsusan » Fri Jun 25, 2010 2:52 pm

Hello,

I just installed Subsonic, I find it amazing, it works fine, but I am having a big problem on my Home Server: CPU load is constantly at 100% or 80% with LAME process.

I have a low power processor to consumption, a 1Ghz C3 Ezra. I use my server to watch movies, listen to music, download and store.

Y is there a way to allow Subsonic less use of CPU resources?

Thank you!

Hi,

I am experiencing a similar problem. There are eight 'lame' processes running, using 100% of my servers CPU (the load average is currently 10.07, 7.53, 3.74). I am streaming an mp3 file to my web browser with the most recent version of Subsonic installed (4.0.1).

Does anyone know what I can do to fix this?

Thanks!

I create player with no limit bitrate. When I listen mp3, lame process load cpu on resampling :?
Lines from log:
Code: Select all
[15.07.10 23:04:43 EEST]     DEBUG   TranscodeInputStream   Starting transcoder: [c:\subsonic\transcode\lame] [-S] [-h] [-b] [32] [blablabla.mp3] [-]
...
[15.07.10 23:04:43 EEST]     DEBUG   InputStreamReaderThread   (c:\subsonic\transcode\lame) Encoding blablabla.mp3
[15.07.10 23:04:43 EEST]    DEBUG   InputStreamReaderThread   (c:\subsonic\transcode\lame) to
[15.07.10 23:04:43 EEST]    DEBUG   InputStreamReaderThread   (c:\subsonic\transcode\lame) Encoding as 16 kHz 32 kbps j-stereo MPEG-2 Layer III (16x) qval=2

Bug in parsing resample command. I clear field with this option and all work fine, but without resampling.

HI majestic gatsusan
I had a similar issue with my low power ubuntu server .
When the application tried to build the search data base the cpu went to 100% and stayed there.
A suggestion was made to adjust the amount of memory that the Java process was allowed (default is 100 mb.
Also and I think this was the winner it was suggested that I renice the subsonic process to reduce its cpu priority (I.E allow it less cpu )
Having done this my server now has a working search and is nice and fast.
your post does not say what OS you are using on windows you would need to change the priority of the process. hope this helps,
