Android App Crashes When Connecting to My Server

When I test the connection in the android app, it tells me, "Connection is OK. Server is Unlicensed." (... Which is interesting because my license key is entered into the server.)

When I do searches, I never have any results, and when I tap the browse button (second icon in the bottom toolbar), after polling the server for about a second, I get a force close dialog.

Nothing seems to be logged on the server for this event.

I do notice that the Android app will connect to the test server just fine... What could the issue with mine be? I'm running 4.0.1.

Much thanks, in advance!

If possible, could you create a test account for me and email me (sindre@activeobjects.no) the server URL and username/password? I will try to reproduce the error.

TIA,
Sindre

I was having this exact same problem, could not figure it out for the life of me at first. Kept thinking that I might have something wrong with my portforwarding (tho' shouldn't be in all reality since port 80 is the web port anyway . . .), my set up may not be the same as I use dynDNS for my hostname resolution, however I don't believe it should matter.

But basically, all I did was go into Windows Firewall, click 'Allow program or feature...' and then checked Home/Private. The Public mark was already checked. And I may note that I was not able to access it from my hostname on the computer either, tho' being able to access it through localhost and from 192.x.x.x, (hostname was working properly as I could access my uTorrent webgui and also RDP into my computer). After checking those two boxes for subsonic agent and service, solved it instantly. Looking at most of the reports on this help forum, I do believe that this is the main culprit. I am running Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit, phone is a G1 with SuperE 1.0.3 (based of Cyan's 5.0.8)

I spoke too soon. Now while it is able to list all my albums successfully, it will not play them, I also receive a force close. It loads all the artists, then I can can into their album, and it pulls the covers also, then I click the album and it says 'Reading from server' and FCs. I was pretty stoked to use this too.

Also just fixed that by changing in the app the songs to preload to 1, works now so don't care ha. Very weird.

Setting songs to load to 1 didn't help my situation any...

And the web interface works fine from inside or outside the network, so it looks like my firewall is set up correctly.

Haven't heard anything from Sindre. Would be cool to hear he's at least reproducing my issue...

Just got the Subsonic Android app update. Doesn't appear to have helped my issue, though...

I also have a force close on ERIS Droid. Old version worked so well, I jumped on the update.

Server side forwarded my port and my licenced address is verified.

Client (phone) issues a force close message when scanning for server.
When testing connection I get Connection OK, unlicensed server, but I do have a license.

I'll be patient, Its a great application.

Thanks a lot for setting up a test account for me. I just tried from my Nexus One, but wasn't able to reproduce. I'll keep looking into it. Stay tuned.

Also can't reproduce on Android emulator. Based on this (and on 41 crash reports for Droid), it sounds Droid-specific.

Can you pls try the following:
Settings > Applications > Manage applications > Subsonic > Clear cache
and see if it changes anything?

What Android version are you using?

Thanks,
Sindre

I am having similar problems with the Android App. I'm running a build of Android 2.2 on a Motorola Droid 1. Subsonic 1.4 ran without any problems.

My trial period expired and I was down for a couple of days when v1.5 was released. I donated but then ran into problems when with transferring over the server name (which you quickly fixed, thanks). When I was initially having trouble after donating I re-installed the desktop and the phone app in hopes of fixing the problem.

The desktop version works fine. The network tab shows router successfully forwarded, web address shows that it is registered. Music plays through the desktop without any issues.

When using the App the demo server works fine but as soon as I try to access my own server through the app it says "Connection failure. A network error occurred. Please check the server address or try again later." I've double checked that the server name, user name, and password are all correct.

I have been using this successfully on Android 2.2 for awhile and didn't run into any problems until the most recent release.

I will set up a test account and email it to you with my screen name in the subject line.
