Cannot connect to server from iPhone app

Postby gummbah » Fri Jul 23, 2010 8:10 am

Hi,

I am running subsonic 4.01 on an iMac at home.
I have donated and the xxxx.subsonic.org address is registered.
There are no problems connecting from my desktop at work to the server, but I cannot connect using the iPhone app. Maybe this is a problem after the latest app update, I am not sure, because I haven't use the app for a while.

Anyway, I can connect from the desktop but not from my iPhone 3G (iOS 4). I get the message 'Either the subsonic URL is oncorrect, the Subsonic server is down, or you may be connected to Wifi, but do not have access to the outside internet. Error code 2: request timed out'

Any suggestions?

Cheers

I am having the same issue. I have set up port forwarding and it appears to be working correctly and it tells me that it is successfully forwarding the appropriate port, but I am getting the following message:

xxx.subsonic.org is registered, but could not connect to it. (ConnectTimeoutException)

you can verify that your ports are open correctly by putting your IP in on this page http://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/open-ports/

Please post back the results. Thanks

okay it seems my 4040 port is closed. How do I open it?
The subsonic app works when I'm on the same wifi network but doesn't work anywhere else.

I have used the http://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/open-ports/ to find out that my 4040 port is open.

When I go to the network screen on Subsonic it states the following:

Automatically configure your router to allow incoming connections to Subsonic (UPnP port forwarding).

If your router can't be configured automatically you can set it up manually. Follow the instructions on portforward.com. You must forward port 4040 to the computer running the Subsonic server.

Status: Idle

Access your server over the Internet using an easy-to-remember address.

http://xxxx.subsonic.org

Status: Idle

I think I have done everything correctly, but my status is idle. Anyone have any ideas as to why this may be happening?

Thanks!

Status: No router found.

Status: nbrody.subsonic.org is registered, but could not connect to it. (ConnectTimeoutException)

I had this working for probably a couple months. I don't remember when it stopped working, but I think it's been a couple weeks. I do not recall changing any settings before it happened. I have donated and used the license key to set up the personalized name.

I just bought and downloaded z-subsonic (was previously using isub). Still having problems, so I guess that means it's my computer settings.

I had similar problems... Have you tried disabling uPnp on your router? As soon as I did this... all worked well. (afterwards reboot router and subsonic)

Hi,

I'm having the exact same problem: No router found, etc. Everything worked fine till about two weeks ago. I think I've tried all the suggested fixes without success. Anyone?

Thanks.

Sett the portforwarding manually both in Subsonic and on the router.

If you need help with oort forwarding, find the model of your router (eg. Linksys WRT54G) and google that plus "port forwarding".

Another good resource is www.portforward.com. Although they seem to have a lot more advertising than they used to. I kinda don't like them as much as I used to.

Cheers,
Kirk
