AAC and MP4 playback works in browser, but not on Android

Postby jrhorn424 » Mon Aug 02, 2010 7:50 pm

I have a bit of an odd problem. I noticed nothing but static coming from a few albums when played over my HTC Incredible this weekend. Found out those albums were either AAC or MP4, and thought that must be the issue. I've tried every solution I've found on the forum.

The MP4 and AAC transcoding lines are enabled in the server config. I'm using ffmpeg on Windows 7. The subsonic installer loaded up the transcoder folder full of useful codecs, so it isn't that I'm missing a codec.

Playback on my Mac over wifi works through the browser. Playback on my phone (wifi or 3G) produces static.

Any ideas for what to try next?

So, checking AAC and M4A in transcoding doesn't enable those transcoders on the client players.

Go to Settings>Players and use the dropdown menu to select the player that is giving you static, and make sure all transcoders are checked.

Not user-friendly. Hope this is changed in future versions, but until then, I hope this helps anyone else running into playback issues.
