Connection Issues w/ Moto Droid + Windows XP + LinkSysRouter

Ok, so I've got Subsonic, and I did have it up and running previously....

I updated and forgot about it...

So I seem to be having the same connection issues as many others, but I've not come across a cure for these issues I'm having...

I'm on a Linksys Router, WinXP, and Moto Droid

I can connect from my Droid if I'm connected to the same WiFi network as my server computer....once I try 3G, it doesn't work.

I have tried forwarding both Manually and using uPnP...I've tried various different ports, all of the 80's, 4040, 1983, and a few others...none worked....my Network Settings screen says "Status: greenleaved.subsonic.org responded successfully. " but my phone won't connect.....there was a time when my port was 80 and if gave me a unique error "connection failure didn't understand the reply"...but still never worked...

I've tried different source folders...different ports...both forwarding methods...but cannot seem to get a connection from outside of my network.

Any idea on what I need to do or what I should try?

Thanks a ton for any help, and if this works I do plan on donating...I love the app when I use it in my home, but I just can't get this thing to work in my car. Thanks.

I currently have it set to 80 so I'd assume http://greenleaved.subsonic.org:80 should work from anywhere, but it isn't for me....

When I run the port checker on this page http://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/open-ports/ it says that port 80 is closed. Are you using upnp or do you have your ports manually forwarded?

I've tried both, at the moment i have them manually forwarded.

what is the model of your linksys router?

i just did uPnP and subsonic settings>Network says "Status: Successfully forwarding port 80."

Then I attempt the chekc on the page you posted, and it says it's not opened...

and now its also saying "Status: greenleaved.subsonic.org is registered, but could not connect to it. (ConnectTimeoutException) "

When you open the subsonic icon in the system tray what does it say for the server address on the bottom of the status tab?

it doesn't say the port right now

when i have it set to 80 it doesn't include, port but if i change it to say 83 it'll say http://localhost:83

ok so I just changed it to port 85...i am doing uPnP and tried that site and it's saying the port is open, but my phone is still not connecting...goest through the 4 retries

Lets try disabling upnp and manually forwarding port 4040.

Could you tell me what you are putting in for the Port Range Forwarding for the Start, End, Protocol, and IP address fields?

Also under the Security tab click on Firewall and then choose the Disable Firewall radio button.

I actually have a near identical setup as well. (Linksys WRGT or whatever)

Originally, I had my music spread out in different folders by genre (rock, country, etc.) but upon putting them all in one folder it then connects and displays folders on my Droid.

ie:

J:\@mp3\<artists_folder>

It still has issues with subfolder heavy <artist_folder>. But for the ones where I only have one subfolder (CD) of that artist it loads at a resonable speed.

It seems the connection problem, for me at least, is if there are multiple folders within a folder it tends to make the Android App fail out.

ok...uPnP is disabled...changed port to 4040

changed subsonic to 4040 on server and droid...no connection

the site you posted is showing that my fort is open, and subsonic says "Status: greenleaved.subsonic.org responded successfully. "

Port Range settings are
Start: 4040
End: 4041
Protocol: TCP
IP Address: 192.168.0.55

my computer is a Static IP address assigned to 192.168.0.55 and is confirmed to be connected to my router as such...

Both router and Windows Firewall are fully disabled
