Weird Behavior on Android (froyo)

Postby cyberyaga » Wed Aug 11, 2010 1:30 pm

I love SubSonic. Subsonic has put to shame services like Rhapsody, with the implementation of it's android app. It's awesome. I love using it in my car.

I just recently wiped my phone(Moto Droid) clean and installed Froyo(Simply Stunning v4.6). Besides the stupid issue with the aac decoding, it's working fine (Turning of StageFright makes it sound better, but not great).

I installed SubSonic and this is what I found:
    * When I skip a song forward via the bluetooth controls, it skips the song in SubSonic, but also starts playing a song in the Android Music Player at the same time
    * When playing a song, there is always a split second skip anywhere in the song (despite the fact that the it's already fully downloaded).
    * All buffered songs downloaded to the cache (.complete files) are showing up and playing in the android Music Player (including songs that I've skipped)

Like I said, I love Subsonic, but these little issues are a pain. Please let me know what I can do on my part to resolve them or if I need to wait for the next update for them to be resolved.

Thanks in advance.

Android and Froyo

Postby Aethies » Wed Aug 11, 2010 3:40 pm

You mentioned that you haven't had any issues. I have a moto droid running froyo. I had to un-install subsonic because it wouldn't stop running. It was staying connected to my server at home and killed my battery.
What was funny about the whole thing, it was fine, until I configured the server. Then it wouldn't stop running.
I was going to re-install it to see if that fixes the issues, but just haven't had time.

Will post what I find when I get this done.

I don't have an Android so I'm not extremely useful, but just throwing this out there...

On my iPod Touch and iPad, I have a process manager because it's jailbroken... and I can end the "iPod" process. I'm guessing your Android music player might still be running... is there maybe a way you can end the process for that so it's not sitting there in the background?

Cheers,
Kirk

Aethies -- You can get a "Task killer" for the Android or you can go into your applications (setting --> applications) and stop them from running.

I know it's a work around, but at least it will solve your issue.

I have no idea what to do with my issue.

That is just it. Process gets killed and it starts back up. So it won't DIE! LOL.. I just re-installed it and it doesn't seem to be an issue right now.
Still investigating tho. Will let you know.

Have you tried actually stopping the "Subsonic Download service"?

Go to "Settings > Applications > Running Services" on your Android phone and stop the Subsonic service. It is likely that the service is starting the Subsonic activity again.
