Installing Transcoders on QNAP NAS

I've tried installing lame and ffmpeg through ipkg and linking the lame and ffmpeg to the transcode directory, but it doesn't seem to work. Can someone with a QNAP NAS tell me how they did it? Many thanks.

Here's some examples of what I did:
Code: Select all
[/share/HDA_DATA/subsonic/transcode] # ln -s /opt/lib/libmp3lame.la /share/HDA_DATA/subsonic/transcode/lame/libmp3lame.la
[/share/HDA_DATA/subsonic/transcode] # ln -s /opt/lib/libmp3lame.so.0.0.0 /share/HDA_DATA/subsonic/transcode/lame/libmp3lame.so.0.0.0
[/share/HDA_DATA/subsonic/transcode] # ln -s /opt/lib/libmp3lame.so.0 /share/HDA_DATA/subsonic/transcode/lame/libmp3lame.so.0
[/share/HDA_DATA/subsonic/transcode] # ln -s /opt/lib/libmp3lame.so /share/HDA_DATA/subsonic/transcode/lame/libmp3lame.so

I've tried many variations in naming, etc. Thanks again.[/quote]

I just completed this task on my TS-239 PROII

My linked /var/subsonic is located at /share/HDA_DATA/subsonic/

Install LAME. I used the ipkg qpkg then

# ipkg install lame

This installed the LAME libraries into /opt/lib

I used:
# ln -s /opt/bin/lame /share/HDA_DATA/subsonic/transcode/lame

I then restarted tomcat:

#/etc/init.d/tomcat.sh restart

And it worked.

I think your issue is:

[/share/HDA_DATA/subsonic/transcode] # ln -s /opt/lib/libmp3lame.la /share/HDA_DATA/subsonic/transcode/lame/libmp3lame.la

should leave off the underlined part.

ipkg is a QPKG that must be installed like java and tomcat. Once installed you can call it from the command line. It is a package manager.
