Using Subsonic on a college (or any restricted) network?

I just started college about a week ago, living in the dorms on-campus. Obviously, this means I don't have access to all of the network settings like I did at home. I've tried setting Subsonic to use port 80, but it doesn't seem to work (even though Skype does, which netstat says uses port 80 when running). I have both an xxxx.subsonic.org and a DyDNS domain that I can use, but it doesn't look like enabling automatic port forwarding in Subsonic works, so I'm at a loss as to what to try now.
I tried searching/Googling for people in a similar situation, but with no luck. Has anyone successfully gotten Subsonic working on a network without access to the router?

Running Subsonic 4.0.1 (build 1529) on Vista (primarily, I can boot into Ubuntu if need be) and trying to access it via a stock HTC Incredible running version 1.7 of the Subsonic app on Android 2.1 (at least at the time of this writing, the 2.2 update is supposed to be rolling out).
