album art search not working today?

PostPosted: Tue Aug 31, 2010 7:12 pm

I just installed and started using Subsonic this past weekend. I have been using the album art search feature from the web interface, and I am logged in as 'admin'.

I was able to use the "Search Discogs" button just fine yesterday, but today it seems to run the search very quickly only to report back "No images found.'

I am currently on a Ubuntu machine, and I tried with both Chrome and Firefox today. I also just tried Chrome on a W7 machine.

Is anyone else having an issue with this?

Me either...

Album art is not working for me either, for any album. Here's my log:

This is still happening after my 3rd day of having Subsonic installed. I absolutely love it, and the the album art problem is the only thing holding me back from donating now. I should mention my server information:

Version: 4.1.beta1 (build 1759) – August 21, 2010
Server: jetty-6.1.x, java 1.6.0_18, Linux (28.2 MB / 62.9 MB)

I am running this on Ubuntu 9.04 (Jaunty).

/etc/version: Linux version 2.6.28-11-server (buildd@palmer) (gcc version 4.3.3 (Ubuntu 4.3.3-5ubuntu4) ) #42-Ubuntu SMP Fri Apr 17 02:48:10 UTC 2009

Since I have multiple virtual hosts on this server, and it's behind a strict firewall, Subsonic is running on port 4040, which is being proxied from port 80 with nginx. (I can share the nginx config if anyone wants).

Everything is working amazingly well except for the batch cover art downloads.

Failing Coverart Search

Hi,
I.ve been using Subsonic several moths now and up till a few days ago Cover Art search worked fine. :D
Guess that there have been some changes on the Discogs-site which have a negative effect on Subsonic.
To bypass this you could always search Google Images for a cover and paste the url manually.
I know it's not the best solution but for an occasional update it works.
Guess that Sindre ( or someone else  ) has to do a bit off code-crunching to get it working again.
BTW I'm using the Subsonicversion 4.0.1 (build 1529) on Windows XP Pro.

I've done the manual artwork updates for a couple albums, but since I'm a newbie, and I have just imported all my albums in, the manual option is more work than it's worth. Hope the batch artwork is fixed soon! :)

I've never had a working cover art search...always "No images found."

I have 4.1 (build 1806) – September 10, 2010 installed.

Are others still having problems?

Discogs is really not working anymore

Hi,
I'm using version 4.0.1 (build 1529) – 13 may 2010 and the coverart search used to work fine until several weeks ago.
As I said in a previous post: It seems that there have been some changes on the Discogs website which causes this problem.
I tried today to find some covers on Discogs, but all I get from subsonic is:
No images found.

4.1 didn't help either. Sure glad I did my whole-library fill before it broke, so I can survive for the time being manually setting new additions. Is irritating though!

it's Final

Hi,
Now I'm sure that the cover-art problem arises from changes on Discogs.
XBMC also used to use Discogs for Cover-art, but can't find anything anymore.
This feature also used to work fine in XBMC.

Cover art search fails for me as well, using the new 4.1 on Linux via Tomcat6.

Didn't Subsonic used to use Amazon as well as Discogs? I always had better success with Amazon search and was surprised to see Sindre remove that from Subsonic cover art search options. I guess Amazon changed it such that it wasn't as Subsonic-friendly or something?

I just added 450 albums, and the idea of manually searching in Google images and pasting in the URL for each one is making me shiver.

While not a Subsonic solution, MediaMonkey still uses Amazon (also in AMZ's various country sites, if Amazon US can't locate it). It's Auto-Tag feature will save it to the ID3 tag of each file, so it travels WITH the file, not stuck in a silo like iTunes/WMP. You can also scrub Google Images, etc. and save/apply in MM similarly. G'Luck!

You can add another "me too" to this list -- Subsonic 4.1, build 1806, running on Linux. It would be really nice to have this feature back!
