I followed the instructions on the installation guide to upgrade my subsonic from 3.9 to 4.1. As it says I deleted the TOMCAT_HOME/work link and restarted the tomcat and now I get an error saying HTTP Status 500 - .

Also while starting tomcat I can see this error

Code: Select all: Starting Tomcat servlet engine: tomcat5.5chown: cannot access `/var/lib/tomcat5.5/work': No such file or directory

Solved after manually creating the folder work under /var/lib/tomcat5.5/
