Hey so I installed subsonic 4.1 and I went into the settings and it says that automatic port forwarding is working. I setup a subdomain name and it says its working.

When I type in the subdomain name , it gives me back my local ip on the network. I'm behind a regular wifi router.

When I type in my external IP with the port number it can't connect. Nothing opens up at all.

The best I can do right now is my local IP. What do I have to do to use my external IP to access from outside the network?

Is there somewhere I can force to listen on my external IP?

Thanks.

Typically, connecting to your external IP from inside your network will not work. If you are trying from outside your network and it isn't working, that is most likely because you need to forward the Subsonic port.

To check if your port is forwarded, you can go here and change the port number to match your Subsonic port: http://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/open-ports/

If it is not open, then you will need to find out how to do that for your router. If you have no idea where to begin, please tell us your router's model number in your reply and maybe somebody will be able to assist you. If you have some idea what you're doing but need help still, try checking on Port Forward.com for your router's model number.

Cheers,
Kirk
