xxxx.subsonic.org not working with port 8080

Postby confoundedjoe » Fri Sep 17, 2010 4:56 pm

So I had my subsonic up and running upnp with port 80 and everything was working fine but I recently set up a WHS and it defaults to 80. Rather than change that I just turned off upnp in subsonic and switched it to 8080 and forwarded it on my router. Accessing the server remotely via http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:8080 works fine but my subsonic address doesn't. I'd really like to use the personalized address. Does it automatically forward on 80? It always redirects to my WHS login. Thanks in advance.

I see the problem! There are too many X's in your URL and IP address.

But in all seriousness, lol.

No, there's nothing that says you can't use your URL redirect with port 8080. I use mine with 4040 in fact. The redirect most certainly does not default to port 80.

A few thoughts to help get us started with the troubleshooting process:
- Does Subsonic know it's running on port 8080 or did you accomplish this through port forwarding in the firewall, and it's still actually running on 80 on the server box itself?
- Are you trying to go to xxx.subsonic.org:8080? This is incorrect. Even if it's running on 8080, you should go to your Subsonic URL with no port after it (so, port 80) and it will redirect you to the right IP and port, from their server.
- Maybe the Subsonic URL didn't update when you changed the Subsonic port? You could try deleting your URL and creating it again.

Cheers,
Kirk
