streaming within browser

Postby alphaex32 » Tue Feb 13, 2007 9:05 pm

I'm running a local apache server so that I can stream my music over the internet, but it seems like I can only play music from subsonic if I manually load the playlist into WMP. The installation seems to be fine, but if I click on any track or try to play anything in the browser (ive tried firefox and IE), the main subsonic frame just turns white and nothing plays. Is there supposed to be an embedded player in the middle frame, or is the Now Playing list at least supposed to load there?

There is no embedded player in the web interface. When you start playing from the browser (click on a track, click "Play all" etc), an M3U file is sent from the Subsonic server to the browser. Depending on how your browser and OS are configured, this will trigger a player (such as Winamp or WMP) to start playing.

In your case, it seems like there is no configured association between M3U and WMP in your Windows config, and the M3U file is somehow loaded in the middle frame of the web interface.

In WMP, please check that "MP3 audio file" is selected in Tools > Options > File Types.

Hope this helps :-)

I've got m3u and mp3 associated with media player classic, and I am usually able to stream things fine with it. It doesn't even seem like the browser is trying to load anything...it just loads the blank white page. Ill keep working on this, but in the meantime has anyone modified this to use an embedded flash player? I recently tried vibestreamer which is a really nice music server with a flash player, but it doesn't use an ID3 database like subsonic.
