Seek for Audio tracks bugs out sometimes

Sometime's I've noticed when I'm streaming audio files through the web the seek bar in the player bugs out and I can't skip within the track anymore. A refresh of the window usually sorts it out, but it happens again for the next track I load.

Browser: Chrome 6

The issue does not seem to occur on Firefox. Can someone else please verify this for me?

I see the same thing on Chrome 6.0.472.62.

Interesting, does anyone know if this is an issue with Flash or Chrome or subSonic itself? I'm guessing Flash but I have no idea how to debug this...

I am having the same issue in Chrome and IE 8.

In both of those browser the seek bar usually works for the first song I play after logging in (regardless of the file format) and then stops working for every other song.

Is this a known issue?

I fixed this problem by replacing the jw player in subsonic. The current version is 5.0 but i updated mine to 5.3 and everything is now good. http://www.longtailvideo.com/players/jw-flv-player

YES! This finally helped me to solve my "Error writing mp3 output" issue. I thought that this was an encoding issue (ogg -> mp3) and spent hours on it trying all kind of encoding settings. But it vanished once I used the JW 5.3 release.
Should be included in the next release to save us all from some headache

I downloaded the new jw player but I'm not sure what files to put in which directory. I'm using windows XP.

Thanks for the link. I downloaded the 5.3 Player files, but I too am not quite sure what to do with them.

Can you post instructions on how to do the update?

I have jw-player-4.4.swf and jw-player-5.0.swf in

C:\subsonic\jetty\1802\webapp\flash

None of the other files such as swobjet.js or jwplayer.js are in this directory.

Any assistance appreciated.

Thanks

On the right trail, just a little lost, too.

I have downloaded them and replaced the player, in:

C:\subsonic\jetty\1802\webapp\flash

Is this the right step? If so, should I restart the server to apply the changes?

Not really sure once I retrieve it, what are the proper steps to get things running with the newer player.

Thanks,

Jacob

Ok.... so there are two ways to replace the jw-flv-player. The lazy way which is the way i did it or the hard way which i won't teach because it takes too much time. :D

Ok so first download flash player 5.3. http://www.longtailvideo.com/players/jw-flv-player

Depending on where flash player is installed will differ depending on where you have subsonic installed.

I'm guessing that most of them are installed here.
C:\subsonic\jetty\1802\webapp\flash

My flash player is installed here but thats because i'm running subsonic off of tomcat.
C:\Program Files\Apache Software Foundation\Tomcat 6.0\webapps\subsonic\flash

You should find two files under your flash folder. jw-player-4.4.swf and jw-player-5.0.swf. Now rename the jw-player-5.0.swf to jw-player-5.0.old.swf and paste the player.swf that you just downloaded in to the flash folder and rename it to jw-player-5.0.swf. After you do that you may need to reboot subsonic and also delete your internet temparary files before it will work.

To verify that it worked run the subsonic web page and right click on the flash player and it should say About JW Player 5.3.1.... or something.

Let me know if it works.

I instsalled it and it works well with music. The seek bar functions properly.

Only problem now is that it won't play video. I kinda suspected that the other files in the upgrade pack might be needed for that. Guess I'll have to poke around inside to see if I can figure out the hard way.
