Problem Upgrading To 4.1

I run PCLinuxOS and I did the stand-alone install of 4.01 initially. Subsonic was placed in the /var/subsonic directory. I downloaded the stand-alone version of 4.1, but I'm having trouble upgrading. I tried extracting the new version over 4.01, but nothing seems to happen. Well actually, I couldn't seem to get subsonic to start initially (by running the shell script), but I did eventually get it to start. However, it's still at version 4.01. How do I go about upgrading the stand-alone version?

Wow, not one suggestion. I guess I'll try emailing the author directly.

Maybe you came across the same issue like me.

Change line 103 of subsonic.sh from
Code: Select all
if [ -e /bin/readlink ] || [ -e /usr/bin/readlink ]; then
to
Code: Select all
if [ -L $0 ] && ([ -e /bin/readlink ] || [ -e /usr/bin/readlink ]); then

Without this change subsonic.sh tries to change to the empty directory string (cd '') if you call subsonic.sh directly instead of creating a symlink.

I guess you extracted 4.1 into the wrong location and didn't overwrite the 4.01 at all. As you tried to start the 4.1 shell script it failed cuz of the above mentioned issue, and after playing around you eventually launched the old 4.01 somehow, so it seemed to you like the upgrade didn't work at all. Just a guess, but who knows... ;)
