How to speed up subsonic ?

Ok, I'm using subsonic for more than music, uploading films ++ to my laptop when I'm away from home ++++

Anyway, I have a 50/25mbit fiber connection, and I get an upload speed close to 3 Mb\sec using ftp...

But, subsonic seems to be limited to about 150 kb\sec per download when transferring files over the internet....

If I download 10 files at a time from subsonic, I get about 1500 kb\sec total speed.

If I download 1 file while I'm connected to the intranet I get 3-6 Mb\Sec

Why is this ?

When you download these files from Subsonic, are you downloading albums or just songs?

When you download an album from Subsonic I think the speed restriction would be your CPU because you're downloading it as it's compressed. The albums come as compressed archives.

I have not noticed this problem, but I only have a 6Mb/1Mb connection at home so it wouldn't affect me from what you're saying.

Cheers,
Kirk

Oki, computer hw:

Amd X6 1095T BE @4.2 ghz water-cooled
Corsair quad BE kit 8192 Mb ddr3, pc 10700 ram
Gigabyte GA 790fxta-UD5
Window 7 ultimate 64 bit
4x Seagate barracuda 1,5 tb + 1 wd 500 gb disk

So I don't think it's a hardware limit. The intranet is 1gbit, and the fiber box is also connected via 1gbit.

No, and I don't think its related to downloading music, that's plenty fast, but if, lets say I have a 4.5 gb hd movie in .mkv format I'd like to download...

I'm limited to about 150 kb'sec per download.

If you are using Windows then I believe that your problem is related to a limitation with Jetty. see here: http://docs.codehaus.org/display/JETTY/Slow+Win2003

Here is another forum thread about this issue. http://forum.subsonic.org/forum/viewtop ... sc&start=0

My upload speed is below the limits imposed by jetty so I am unable to test out the issue.

Nice system btw. I'm jealous
