4.1 standalone broken?

I just did an update of my 4.0 installation (on osol10 box) and it started complaining about 503 errors on browser, and the logs show that index.view is missing.

The standalone tgz is also about 10 megs smaller (at 26 megs) than the 4.0... so I wonder if the sourceforge download is broken.
