QNAP NAS and UTF-8. How-To

Postby redranger » Tue Oct 12, 2010 12:58 pm

Hi guys and girls......

My question is quite simple:

- How do I get Subsonic to read `´ ! and other characters.

- Subsonic is running on tomcat on my QNAP

I tried to match this guide, http://kevinmorey.com/post/967347977/fi ... characters, to my QNAP but without any luck.

//// I tried \\\\

* Defining different languages in the subsonic.properties file. With the LocaleVariant=

* Tried to define "LANG=en_US.UTF-8" in the tomcat catalina.properties file.

=========

I don't want a subsonic.sh file to start up with tomcat as stated in other threads here at the Subsonic forum. Unless this is the only way to do it.
The reason that I don't want this is that I fixed the Subsonic home dir problem on QNAP (the var folder is a ramdisk folder) by redirecting the subsonic home folder in the catalina.properties file (tomcat).

So do somewhere at this forum have a good idea on how I can solve this.

Looking forward to hear from you.

Thank you very much.

What version of SS are you currently running?
Most (if not all) of the issues regarding international characters within SS have been resolved.
However if it is an OS problem then that may not help :?

Due to the confusion from too many genres of music, we have decided to put both country music and rap music into the genre of Crap music.

That version should be ok.
I assume you have seen viewtopic.php?f=2&t=8254&hilit=international+characters#p33296
Not sure if that helps with your OS :?

Hi...

I don't have the subsonic.sh file. I'm running the WAR distribution on my QNAP (firmware v3.6). Is it possible to set these same parameters for the WAR deployment?
I use the catalina.properties for setting a different path for subsonic, than VAR as this folder is cleared on reboot on the QNAP. Could this file be used?

Thank you.

I am afraid you may to have to wait for another QNAP user to answer that
Assuming there are any - with the responses so far :?

(That's the one advantage of Windows - that great technical resource called Google can usually answer anything :lol: )
