Anyone know if it possible to remotely access my music folder on a usb drive attached to my network router netgear wndr3700 when the pc is logged off. All is well when the pc is on and i can share music on the usb drive as well as main pc hard drive. I am looking to keep all my music on this network drive but would like to be able to access this and play remotely on Iphone 4 around the house and when i am away from home without having to leave pc on . I can see all the files via http on the phone but cant seem to find a solution for getting subsonic to play the music this way when the pc is off. Thanks.

What enables you to see the files via http? Are there special settings on the hard drive or the router that you can set up to share on a webserver? My guess is you wont't be able to do what you want because you can't install subsonic on the router or hard drive.

Also, to be clear, you can see the files on your iphone via http when you are on 3g?

Need Subsonic running on the device to 'serve' the tunes. I've been looking into:
http://www.tonidoplug.com/
to do this, but don't know how to install SS on this linux-based device (Ubuntu Jaunty)

"TonidoPlug is based off the Marvell ARM processor architecture:

1.2 GHz ARM processor
512 MB RAM
512 MB Flash Memory
Gigabit Ethernet
USB 2.0 port
Compatible with power voltages all across the world 100-220 V, 50-60Hz

The TonidoPlug runs a Embedded Linux Distribution based on Ubuntu Jaunty."

you also might be able to install subsonic on the hard drive as a stand alone installation located here: http://www.subsonic.org/pages/installat ... standalone
