Ok, after playing around with the other futures i wanted to do some more.
So i found Internet TV/radio function and added my favorite Shoutcast server (or any other) but nothing happend.
All it did was downloading pls or m3u file.
Is this normal behavior?
What kind of url's can be used if this isn't allowed?

No one?
What use does this function have as it only downloads the playlist instead of playing them?
And if it will play are there some controlls like pause, play and stop etc ?

I played around with it yesterday for a bit after reading your post and had no trouble getting it to work with Hulu. I'll try to get some time to redo it todasy and post exactly what I put in to gwet it working. It works but it's not all that impressive as a feature.

OK here goes:
Open settings, select Internet TV/radio
cut and paste the following into
Name - Hiccup Girl
Strem URL -
http://www.hulu.com/watch/187861/nbc-to ... ith-murder
Homepage -
http://www.hulu.com/tv
Hit the save button at the bottom of the frame.
Click on the Home button in Subsonic
The entry should now appear in the left hand column.
Click on the Play button to play the clip. Click the back button after the clip is done to return to Subsonic.
I take it back, it is a pretty cool feature, especially for a Youtube Junkie.

It's indeed a cool feature if it would work
When i want to add some favorite links from shoutcast then most of us would have a problem.

I was able to add a link to a shoutcast station. When you find a Station you want, place the mouse on the play button, right click, select properties, then copy and paste the url into the stream link. The homepage link is easy to get from the hyperlink in the listing.
In Subsonic, the > play arrow will play the station. The Definition will take you to the station homepage. Back space to return to SS.

Don't know what is going wrong here but nothing seems to work, it only downloads the playlist file in both IE and Chrome.
This url was used for testing -->
http://yp.shoutcast.com/sbin/tunein-sta ... ?id=539189
Where is Sindre when you need him

I tried the link you posted. It opens vlc player for me, but I don't get any stream. If I do the same with
http://yp.shoutcast.com/sbin/tunein-sta ... ?id=404740
It opens VLC player and plays fine.
It's the AVRO High Def classical station that streams @ 320k bitrate.
Do you have a default player set for .pls?

That's the problem, i expected it to be played within Subsonic and not with a external player.
I have better methods to keep shortcuts organized, it should be played within Subsonic and yes this can be done, i have found a link recently that did as expected but since most links are playlist look-a-like links it's pretty useless.

Yes, I agree that the player behavior is a bit erratic. I have some stations that just play when you click on them, others that call the default desktop browse, and still others that won't play unless you call the website of the station and use the link to thei embedded player.
Many different behaviors for the same function, but one that can still be of some use for the station that behave the way you want them to.
I really have no idea why this happens, but I would guess that it may be more to do with constraints of the radio station sites than something about SS itself.

Yes! I was hoping that subsonic had done what no one else seemed to have been able to do--play a shoutcast-type stream in a flash player (this is very useful for cloud-based OSes like ChromeOS), but apparently it can't.
So I can only play flash URLs? Hrmph.

Sorry to bump an oldie but .asx stream launches external like any other on my setup.
Main reason I would like to see this work is I stream my setup from work (https from DYNDNS enabled Astaro FW setup) and I like my SS server to grab the stream and encode to play in the built-in player or from one of the Apps as proxys at work will block streaming media that are in the "open".

I dont think this will help Exrace but I have found a "kludge" to get shoutcast.com radio stations to play in SS
Play a shoutcast radio station in a web browser and then click on the pop-up player (small icon extreme right)
This will bring up a pop player. Now copy the url of that pop up player (NOT the embed code) and insert that into SS
Much to my surprise it works and doesn't bring up a pop up player.
You can stop it as per normal by using the stop radio tip (127.0.0.1)
Another option is to use dreamscape.fm which does online pls to asx conversions
Hope that helps someone
