Skipping tracks

Playing thru a web browser outside my LAN from my subsonic address to my WHS. Use the play all tracks for an album..it plays maybe the first couple of tracks then for some reason will jump to the fourth track, then maybe jump another track further down the album... its very random..anybody got an idea what the hell is going on ?

Sure you didn't hit the Play random link instead of the Play all link.

I am actually having this problem too. I have posted the output from my server as well to show that there isn't anything weird going on with errors. A question for Utopian, did you notice what the file type was when you were getting this behavior? I noticed it in an album of m4a files, though I am not sure that is the cause.

I found this problem with Bridge Over Troubled Water in my collection. In this case it skipped tracks (2,4, 7, 9, 11). The album has 13 tracks. On the other hand, if I click on a specific song in the playlist pane it plays fine. It is only when it is going through the album on it's own. Also, in reference to GJ51's comment, if I hit play random instead, it doesn't skip the songs. So weird.

I hope someone can help with this.

This has been happening to me also. It seems to occur with m4a files and not mp3. Possible transcoding issue?

I had version 4.0 setup on an XP server and had no issues with the m4a or mp3 files. I then upgraded to a WHS server with the new version 4.1 and it skips, but I can't rule out it being an WHS issue. I have no issues with mp3 files on the new setup.



Any suggestions?

I am actually not using WHS. I am using a Ubuntu box that serves everything. Which might mean that the problem is platform independent (read: a subsonic 4.1 problem). I really have no idea on how this can be resolved, but it is pretty annoying, and would love to have it fixed because I have a lot of m4a files in my collection.

When I play m4a files, I get the 'Got range' line in the log file and it skips songs. When listening the album below, it actually skipped songs number 2, 5, 7, and 10.

This didn't happen in the previous version and I thinking of reinstalling version 4.0

You could try the 4.2 beta too. It would be good for Sindre to know if this m4a issue has been fixed for the next version. If the beta doesn't work you can always go back to 4.0.x. There is a thread for the beta that mentions the improvements and changes.

all my songs are m4a format and its still happening.. very annoying...and i'm def. hitting play all and not shuffle...

i think you may fined the flash player will play m4a its self.
