ConnectTimeoutException

Status: ramskip.subsonic.org is registered, but could not connect to it. (ConnectTimeoutException)

I keep getting this error when trying to "Access your server over the Internet using an easy-to-remember address."

I'm using port 80 and have manually forwarded it. I've also tried port 1025 as an alternative with no luck. I used PFPortchecker to confirm that my ports are actually open.

I've also tried this with the "Automatically configure your router to allow incoming connections to Subsonic (using UPnP or NAT-PMP port forwarding)." button checked and not checked.

Any help here would be GREATLY appreciated, burned a good part of my day trying to get this to work. Been trying to get this running now for about 2 hours, why is this so hard!?

thanks,
d.

If it was easy, everybody would be doing it.

There are a couple things you can do. Check your router or use a web site that identifies your external IP address issued by your ISP.

Then try to access SS by using the IPaddress and the port #

e.g. http://285.27.18.56:80

If that doesn't work, something is not set up right. I usually stay away from port 80 because many ISP's block it or use it to manage your gateway device. I typically use 8080, 8081, etc.

RESOLVED!

Thank you SO SO MUCH! That totally did the trick. Port 8080 works like a charm and I absolutely had to use my IP address rather than the shorthand version.

Can't wait to check this thing out, yesss!!

It's the best! Enjoy SS.

Congrats on getting it running.

Just remember that your ISP can change your IP address from time to time. I don't think it's that much of an issue anymore, I've had the same IP for over a year now, but it can happen. When it does, just do the same thing and use the new IP address.
