[Android] folder.jpeg files are showing up in Gallery app

I hope this hasn't already been posted. I did a search for folder.jpeg but didn't see any relevant results.
On Android, the folder.jpeg files are showing up in the Gallery app, or any other picture viewer that uses the central media library. The worst part is, each jpeg is in a separate folder, so the Gallery app is flooded with individual "galleries" for each folder.jpeg.
When the Subsonic client downloads or creates folder.jpeg files, can you make them hidden files? I think the file name simply has to start with a dot. I.e., .folder.jpeg. The client will still be able to load them with an explicit path, but the media indexer will ignore them.
Another option would be to store them in a different directory tree altogether that sits parallel to the music tree. In the root of the image tree, if you place a single .nomedia file (empty file with just that name) then the media indexer will ignore the entire tree. I think the first option is easier, though.
Putting a .nomedia file in the root of the subsonic folder solves the Gallery issue, but then blocks the MP3 files from appearing in the media database.

I'm having the same problem. Anyone with any ideas on this?
Sindre, can you please fix this in an update?

Android Gallery does NOT show "folder.jpg" files.
Android Gallery DOES show "folder.jpeg" files.
On my server, my entire library is using "folder.jpg" for cover art but the Android client seems to want to rename them to "folder.jpeg"
Sindre, can you please fix this in an update?

I use PowerAmp in Folder mode (instead of Library mode), I made it use my Music folder on my external SD, and the Subsonic folder on my internal SD. Works well, and this way I can use the .nomedia while still being able to use my streamed&cached music while offline, in an other player.
This does not fix anything in Subsonic of course, but it can give you a workaround that could work for you personally

just add an empty file in /sdcard/subsonic/music named .nomedia
(it will disappear after you add it because the dot makes it hidden... don't worry, it's there)
then restart your phone.
the .nomedia file will cause your gallery to not search in the folders, but subsonic's caching will still work.

This will also make the music from that folder nor appear in your Android Music player. So there are some who will not like that solution.

THIS IS SO ANNOYING!!!!! I am getting so dang tired of deleting all the album art daily out of my Android gallery, I am getting ready to stop using Subsonic all together. Who gives a damn about fancy play controls when we have 200 unnecessary album art folders constantly added to the gallery.
Can you please, please, please, update the Android client to use folder.jpg (which does NOT show in the gallery), and stop using folder.jpeg?! I am aware of the option to hide subsonic art from other programs, but then my other music player can't see the music.

I agree...please fix the folder.jpeg rename issue....or least give it as an option.

Does anybody know any aplication to change all the file names from folder.jpeg to folder.jpg? I donwload re.*(Renamer) from market (
http://goo.gl/0RIdD) but it only replace the file in a folder, not in subfolders.
I also find some aplications for PC but not for Android. I think it will be easy to do

You could hook your phone to a computer via usb in Disk Drive mode and then run a PC program and point it at your phone.

I know it's a way (I said it before) but I'm looking for something to fix it only with the phone. I may do a script in perl and process it into an android console. Maybe it will work!
