How to set up internet streaming?

Postby JMD » Sun Mar 04, 2007 4:47 pm

Hello all!

First of all, Sindre, Thanks for this wonderfull program!
It would be even better if I could get it working properly! =D
I don't know much about pc's, so this is damn hard for me to set up =P
So this is the case, I put up a server and all that, I can listen and open it in my own browsers with the http://localhost:8080/subsonic link.
But now I wanted it to make it public so I can listen my music everywhere (school for example =P), but I don't seem to be able to do it.
I made an account on DynDNS, I got an link from there..
But now what? What do I have to do with it? =P
Sorry if a 1000 people before me asked this question, but I coudn't find a
thread with my problem

Thanks already!

Router needs to forward traffic.

A assume you are behind a router.

If so, you will need to make your router forward port 8080 to your machine. Depending on the router you might need to give your machine a static IP on your local network. The info you got from DynDNS you need to put into your routher so that the dyndns adress would resolve to your routers IP.

You also might need to open the firewall on your machine to let in traffic on port 8080.
