Re-scan music folders / umlaut problem

Hi

First thanks a lot for this nice piece of software :D

But actually I have 2 problems:

1. How I can re-scan my music folders? I have 6 folders with music in it but just the music of one folder is displayed.

2. Is it possible, that there is a umlaut problem? All music (artist, album, track) with an umlaut (ä, ö, ü) in the name don't show up in the library!

Thanks for your help!

cheerio

ps: I use Ubuntu Lucid Lynx and android 2.1.

I use Debian testing / UTF-8 locale.

Yes, this is a problem... but workaround found. Rename all folders and track: ä -> ae, ö -> oe, ü -> ue, ß -> ss.

FLAC tags works fine exept for compilation albums. In random frame artist for album isn't a 'Various Aartists' but some artist from compilation. Currently for this album I see 'Eardrop / Progressive Bunker' (correctly: 'Panzar Produktionz / Progressive Bunker' or 'Various Artists / Progressive Bunker' if 'ALBUMARTIST=Various Artists'). TAG example:

ALBUMARTIST=Panzar Produktionz
ALBUM=Progressive Bunker

Is it possible that this is still an issue?

At least I noticed the same problem with my library (using subsonic 4.7).

By the way - is there another way of reporting bugs? (eg JIRA, Bugzilla,...so that someone could vote for a bugfix?) :)

Any artist starting with an international character goes in "#" section eg
Code: Select all
Änglagård
Íon
Ólöf Arnalds
Öxxö Xööx
Øresund Space Collective

This is the same for 4.7 as 4.6

@BKKKPewsey: Might be true, I can't say ;). But what I can say for sure is that none of my artists nor albums show up if they have an umlaut somewhere in the middle of the name. Eg: "Die Ärzte".

It showed up once I changed the Ä to Ae...but that is not really an option in my opinion.

Am I the only one experiencing this problem?

Interesting, I actually have no problems with an 'umlaut' at all... an in fact, it was the reason I switched from streaming my music via Winamp/AjaxMP3 to SubSonic.

I also have "die Ärzte" in my library and they - as BKKKPewsey mentioned - show up under the '#' section. Note that the leading 'die' can be filtered off under the settings > gerenal > "Articles to ignore"

Does the folder appear when you rename "Ae" back to "Ä"?

a small additional note

If you filtered "der die das" and want "die Ärzte" a shown in the A-Group, you have only to cange the "Index Configuration" from

A B C D....
to
A(AÄ) B C D

So Artists with a leading A and leading Ä will visible together.

You can change the Index-Line to A Ä B C too.

And sorry for my english

It's done for (X-Z) in a similar way; did not know you could this for Ä and related characters as well. Great additional note, qupfer, thanks!

I'm bumping this now because I still have this issue. Maybe someone could shed some light what the probem could be?

I just upgraded the server software to 4.8, but the issue is still the same :(.

Here are some details about my installation:

Subsonic 4.8 (war package), running on a tomcat 6.0.20
Tomcat is running on my qnap nas...

An example file which does not work: Die Ärzte (live) - 3-Tage Bart.mp3

Last thing: Umlauts in ID3 tags work like a charm..just all files including umlauts don't work. If i change the name from the file, the umlaut can still be in the id3 tag and will be shown correctly by all clients.
