Incompatible versions. Please upgrade Subsonic server.

Hi everyone. I am new this board. Dig the heck out of some subsonic. I use it everyday to stream to my office. My wife uses iSub and I use the Android client.

And the Android client is where my problem begins:
The Android client that I am running is 1.8.4 and Subsonic Server 3.9.
This combination has been working fine for...well...however long I've had Android client 1.8.4 installed till today. :( When I tried to access this morning (android client) I received a network error. I checked my network settings at home and verified proper operation by opening Subsonic in a browser from my office. I tried opening on my phone again and this time received "Incompatible versions. Please upgrade Subsonic server." My buddy who is a recent convert to SS is running the current server version of 4.2 and my phone connects to his system fine, right away, no issues. I try to reconnect to my server and I receive the same error.
OK so by now you are thinking the same thing my buddy said. " So update your server. DONE." I get that and I will once I am home but what I would like to know is why? Why did my device become incompatible with a version that has been working perfectly when no changes were made. Does subsonic or the android client talk back to some central server? Did that server say nope...this is not for you (great now i have Pearl Jam stuck in my head.)

One other thing is that my wife did/ does have the issue stated here http://forum.subsonic.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4720 but dev explains why and what happened.

Sorry for the long post. Thanks for the help

I guess my comment for however long 1.8.4 has been installed= 10 days.

But the rest still holds true. Thanks again!

I think the Android client may have auto upgraded to the newest version, which I think is now 1.9.0. This may be what caused it to stop working with your older version of SS, but still allowed it to connect to your friend's server.

Yeah thats what I thought too. Except when I checked the version # it was still at the older version and auto update was not selected.

As expected when I updated the server the Android client started working again but I would still like to know why.
