All sorts of problems

Postby pdcorcoran » Fri Dec 03, 2010 3:23 am

Installed 4.2 last week on WHS, couldn't see left frame tonight. Reinstalled. Then got HTTP ERROR: 404. Completely uninstalled (including removing c:\subsonic), and reinstalled. Same 404 error. Also tried uninstalling/reinstalling Java, before and after reinstalling Subsonic, and got the same error.

How can I get Subsonic working again?

Thanks.

Which port is subsonic supposed to be broadcasting from? Have you tried manually changing it (add the port in router, too)?

Go to the tray icon on the server. Right click and select "Open Subsonic in Browser". If that works, you've got router or firewall issues.

Don't use port 80.

Manually set up the router.

Assign a fixed internal IP to the server.

Define the same IP to be used by the NIC on the server in the adapter settings.

It did not work when I clicked "open in browser" from the Subsonic control panel. I have it set at port 8080, which is open in the firewall (exception added) and forwarded in the router. The server and all of my devices have fixed internal IP addresses.

I solved the problem. I deleted c:\subsonic and did NOT uninstall/reinstall Subsonic or Java. A little hiccup when it restarted and then everything was working.

So I guess the answer to the 404 error is do NOT uninstall Subsonic. Just stop the service, delete c:\subsonic, restart the service, and then open http://localhost:8080 (if 8080 is your port).
