I installed subsonic using the directions in the documentation but I can't open the subsonic webpage at 192.168.2.1:4040. When I run subsonic in the terminal it says it's running and gives me the pid. What am I missing?

I should have mentioned I'm on Fedora Linux. I have subsonic installed and running but on fedora I don't know how to access it.

Sorry, but I don't either.
Regardless, the information in the link I provided should still be a good backgroung guide to setting up your network properly.
Here's my general rules.
Never use port 80. Too many ISP's block it or use it to remote administer the Gateway device they provide.
Set up your server on a fixed internal IP address on your router at the upper end of the address range, out of the way of DHCP. (e.g. 192.168.1.254)
Manually set up the NIC on the server to use the same ip address you used when you assined the ip in the server, so they match.
Manually set up port forwarding in your router. I use 8080, 8081, 8082 ... for wbeserver addresses without any problems.
Make sure that whatever port SS is using is forwarded to the internal IP address of your server. (port 8080 -> 192.168.1.254)
Read your router documentation and understand how to set up static routes and port forwarding.
As your home network grows, you'l bee really glad if you have this skill set. It solves tons of problems. In my experience, the uPNP on routers just about NEVER works as advertised.
Knowledge is power.
Good Luck - let me know if you have specific questions. Each router is unique, but most documentation is available online. If you have trouble with that, make sure to let me know your router make and model.

192.168.2.1 is a bit unusual, but possible, as an internal ip address. Are you sure that it is right?

Try opening subsonic by
http://127.0.0.1:4040 or
http://127.0.0.1:8080 or
http://127.0.0.1:80 from the box that is running subsonic.
to verify the port go here
- Code: Select all
cat /etc/default/subsonic/SUBSONIC_ARGS
