What happened to Subsonic(aka iSub and Android app problems)

What happened with the latest updates to everything Subsonic?

I was running the previous versions:

Subsonic Server 3.9
Android 1.8.4
iSub 2.2 (cant find a change log with dates to tell you exactly)

This combo was working perfectly. No problem no issues. Tell the world how great it is!

Then one day I was no longer able to access from either mobile client. See this post: http://forum.subsonic.org/forum/viewtop ... highlight=

Nothing had changed on my side. Not one thing but yet I am forced to upgrade. Since the update I have had very inconsistant use of both mobile clients. iSub will start to download and either never finish or just quit. Android will do something similar but will state network connection error. I would like to point at that when this happens Sirius or Pandora can be opened and listened to with no issues. None.

I checked in with a buddy who had recently purchased Subsonic and iSub on my recommendation and he is having similar problems. See his notes below:

"basically iSub is not able to buffer enough to keep up with the stream
even a standard V0 mp3
it's not 3G because I can load up pandora, and it works flawlessly
I have even tried another app, Audiogalaxy, and that application doesn't seem to have any troubles either."

Please let me know if I need to submit log files (and how) and what else I can do to troubleshoot the issue.

Thanks
James

With the mobile apps, there's a 30-day time limit (if you don't donate to subsonic). How long has it been?

That's a good suggestion so I double checked. I have been licensed since June.

This copy of Subsonic was licensed to XXXXXX on June 18, 2010. Thank you for your support!

Thanks for the idea. Any more?

Upgrade to 4.1. Has been quite a bit more stable than 3.9 was.

I was perfectly stable on 3 windows servers running 4.1 and the Android app. I updated the Android app as they were released. The only issue I had was first track repeat on my EVO 4G which is being fixed.

I upgraded all three servers to 4.2 last week with no problem. I just installed 4.2 over the existing 4.1 installation.

All my servers are stable and run fine. My Android app works fine too.

Specific probems can only be fixed by knowing the details of the server having problems. For the most part, I can't see any reason not to upgrade. My experience has been that each upgrade has been more stable.

4.1 is working a treat (and has been) but I've been holding back on 4.2 until I'm convinced it's stable...no hurries. :)

There are many known issues. Most are easily fixed.

Well, if it's OK, I guess there's nothing else to be done.

Can Android see your own server/shows your music?
canyouseeme.org port checks okay?
Does the Subsonic 'test' server behave normally?

It might be helpful if we had some clue as to what error he was getting.

I still get this stupid network error. From WAN and from LAN! :-(

And I have another strange bug if the server works sometimes^^

Everything is accessible: Random, Highest rated, Recently played, Search and everything else except "Newest".

When I choose newest I get the error: "Access denied ti file X:\Tracks" (My Music Directory)

Thanks for help!
