Any way to limit the size of the subsonic.log in db folder?

My subsonic server keeps crashing with the following error..

Could not get JDBC Connection; nested exception is java.sql.SQLException: File input/output error: /var/subsonic/db/subsonic.log

If I delete the subsonic.log file in the DB folder and reboot, everything is fine..

Ive seen the other threads that talk about this, but I think my issue is being caused from a full OS drive.. (standalone version on freenas)...

I only have about 25mb left on this drive.. the log file grows to 25mb and then the server crashes...

my first question is.. .

what purpose does the log file in the DB folder server? Is it what the search feature operates from?

or is it simply a log file that doesnt serve a purpose to the features of subsonic...

my second question is, if it does not server a purpose, can I limit the size that it grows to? why does it grow so large?

at first i thought it had something to do with the the auto updating of the search that you can enable.. i disabled that and the log file still grows even tho i have never told subsonic to rescan and rebuild the search feature.

../subsonic/db/subsonic.properties

Open with plain text editor:

hsqldb.log_size=200 - size of log when checkpoint is performed

"If the value is set via SET PROPERTY then it becomes effective after the next database SHUTDOWN or CHECKPOINT. The value is the size in megabytes that the .log file can reach before an automatic checkpoint occurs. A checkpoint and rewrites the .script file and clears the .log file. The value can be changed via the SET LOGSIZE nnn SQL command."
