Problem with apparent duplicate library

Hi Everyone,

I am trying to track down what I should look at with subsonic showing a duplicate library size. My library songs do not appear to be duplicated, but subsonic reports my library as being double in size.

Currently the actual size is 156 gb, but subsonic shows that it is double that, showing 312 and double the amount of files contained within the library.

I am just kind of lost as to what direction I should look to help sort that out, thanks.

Sounds like your subsonic database is corrupt. Delete subsonic12.index from your subsonic directory (C:\subsonic if using windows) and then do a manual rescan of your search index from the webpage. it is under Settings>Search and then click the "Update search index now." link. It will take a few minutes to index 156GB of files but after it gets done refresh the page and see if your library looks correct.

Thank You for you reply, I just had time to go over and attempt your suggestion this weekend. Had previously gotten busy.

I did as suggested but it rebuilt with the same size as before. I wonder if part of the problem is having the individual folders sorted as I do, plus having the folder contain them scanned by subsonic as well.

For example I have the main folder where my music resides scanned by subsonic. Then I also have my music categorized by genre, so I have those individual folders enabled as well.

So folder A is parent of all subcategories, Folder b-whatever are my genre listings. 19 folders in all.

I did this so that user's had a better ability to sort what was in the library. Is subsonic capable of seeing that those directories are the same? It seems not. It isn't a huge problem and I can remove the parent folder. I think I tried that before, but did not rebuild the index, so may give that a shot.

Use only:

.../Music/genre01/...
.../Music/genre02/...
...
.../Music/genreXX/...

Use Settings / Music folders to add all of those folders. After this you see drop-down menu at top of left frame with genres... This time by default you see all music but with menu to choice only one genre from music collection.

That's how I have it set, and do have the drop down listed. and removing the "parent" directory solved my problem. I don't know why I didnt think to to that before :?

It stemmed from when I first installed Subsonic, and was organizing my library. I wanted a way to see everything and then drill down to a specific genre. Which you can with the drop down. Only limitation is when all folders are selected all the titles are grouped together, without genre, but that is minor. For now I have what I wanted.
