[SOLVED] Subsonic IP address not updating for a few days now

Fairly self explanatory issue my MYNAME.subsonic.org address is not updating to a new external ip set by my router, or rather it is still trying to resolve my old ip:4040

The IP change was caused by a router shutdown a'la power outage but my port forwards are correct still and I can reach my subsonic server by entering ip 132.12.x.x (the correct one that is) on both local or external servers, also my dyndns.org services route correctly as well, so I am sure the port forwarding is correct.

It's been like this for a day or so now, so it shouldn't be a wait till it phones home issue either.

also I have donated.

Thank you!

Go to Settings/Network and hit the save button. Make sure the box is checked, "Access your server over the Internet using an easy-to-remember address."

Check!

I had already re-saved the settings in hopes that that would trigger a reset. Sadly it is still a no go.

I have seen some similar complaints on the forums but they seem to be port forwarding issues but I am almost certain that isn't the issue here, at least on my end. I could definitely be wrong though.

Have you reset all the ports, router and in SS, to ensure they are consistent, and can see the port open in canyouseeme.org? What does the status say in Settings/Networking for 'Automatically configure' and 'Access your server'?

Did you manually forward your ports or are you using UPnP? If you manually forwarded your ports then make sure that the "automatically forward your ports..." checkbox is unchecked.

Is there any log files on your router? Perhaps there is an error message about being unable to connect to subsonic.org or something along those lines hidden somewhere in your router.

I ran into a similar issue not too long ago. My solution was to deselect the option to Access from the custom URL, restart Subsonic and then re-enable the feature. Hope that works!

Thanks for the responses everyone I appreciate it.

I have tried mtniceguy's solution with no luck.

I have tried both automatically forwarding the ports with no luck, so i moved back to manually doing it via my router's web interface.

canyouseeme.org sees port 4040 just fine

4040 is routed to my local IP, I have checked and recheck that it is in fact routing to the correct computer

myname.dyndns.org:4040 works fine for getting to the server (tho I generally just use it for ssh, and would like to not use this one for music)

I have tried to switch ports. modifying the /default/subsonic file and restarting the service. again my dyndns.org mask gets to the server fine but not my subsonic.org

when I check the "access the server over the internet..." box I get myname.subsonic.org is registered, but could not connect to it (ConnectTimeoutException)

Thanks again everyone!

I have the same problem. It was working perfectly until a couple of days ago.

I tried the suggestions here with no success.

I wanna post an update that the problem after about 2 weeks fixed itself. we'll see if it stays working. does seem like it was a subsonic-side issue tho.

Had the same issue, I believe the issue is that subsonic is not restarting properly using the subsonic control panel.

What to do?

So, in Windows,

>go to [Control Panel\Administrative Tools].
>Double click [Services].
>scroll down to the S's, Look for "Subsonic" under Name, You should see "Subsonic Music Server (http://subsonic.org)" under Description.
>right click on it, and select properties.
>hit stop, watch the indicator and wait for the subsonic notification icon in the tray to turn red.
>now hit start, wait for the icon to change back to green
>kapish, the server restarts and sends its true current internal ip address the subsonic.org server.
>now just go to YOUR "http://*.subsonic.org" address, and its all gravy (now this is assuming your network forwarding is already done properly)

Enjoy!!
