Hi am a long time user of subsonic, i have always ran it on windows with no problem both manually setting up my port forward and also using the automatic modem detection. I recently installed Ubuntu because i wanted to run a linux based box and wanted to learn how to use Linux. Anyway i installed SS beta 4.3 beta1 and the modem auto detection isn't working anymore...I have been trying to set up a static IP in Ubuntu and I cant get that to work.. I can however, log onto my SS server when i have my Android phone logged into my home network. my question is their a command to get the router auto detection to work again? Is their a step by step guide for noobs on Ubuntu?

I am running a quest q1000 router modem combo. with a linkses wireless usb network card plugged into a desktop pc. subsonic 4.3 beta1 on port 4040

For now keep Ubuntu as DHCP. You can set it to static after you get the internet working.

In firefox open up http://192.168.0.1 unless your router is using another IP address. You will need to know your routers / modems username and password to get in the website. After you log in then you will need to enter your dls username and password in the router and then it will always stay connected to the internet.

You are probably going to want this anyway if your streaming subsonic to other places.

The Quest/Actiontec router doesn't appear to have a static lan IP setting capability, so you will need to do that for your wlan adapter. :)

OK I got it to auto forward port 4040 but underneath that setting it is saying "Status:Zombie.subsonic.org is registered but not connected to it(connectiontimeoutException). What do I have to do to fix this? If I am correct that means the port is actually forwarded but it still cannot connect to my pc..right?? Does that have anything to do with Ubuntu? I went to Canyouseeme.org and am getting either a connection refused or conection timeout on 4040

I just figured it out seems I had the UPnP checked yes in the SS network screen and also set up a manually port forward of 4040 and it was causing problems. I simply unchecked the automatic setup and saved and the port opened up. Thanks though
