Hi !
I have a few questions which i couldn't get a complete answer to by reading the documentation & forums.
1. In the feature list it says "Manage any player from any location."
However i have not been able to figure out how to control what's playing on my subsonic server from my android phone or vice versa. Is this possible ? If so, how ?
2. Is there any way to use an external videoplayer on android instead of flash on the browser ?
That's it for now. The first one is really important to me because it would allow easy management of multiroom audio (having an android device in each room connected to speakers...)
Thanks !

each of subsonics "players" is bound to a ip and playlist (loosely at least). so you just make new player under settings > player for each android device and can then stream the corresponding playlist to each device/room after you selected the right player in the mobile device. note that transcoding and downsampling can be set for each player (note that player=ss player, not mobile device)
p.s.: someone pls correct me if the mobile player management is fundamentally different from the browser-based one...
good luck,

I don't believe there is any way to control a player from the Android app. You could log in via a browser and do the same things you can do from the desktop.
You can manage any player in the sense that you can select the various settings for that player from any browser. This is not to be confused with the concept of controlling what's playing on every device connected to Subsonic at the time. To control what's PLAYING on other devices on the network, you need to take remote control of the device, such as connecting to another computer via RDC, or you can also use jukebox mode to Control play on the server hosting SS itself. I do this with my server to pipe tunes to a Bose Wave Radio with Sound Link. I put the Bluetooth adapter in the server in the basement, set the playlist, then connect the radio to the server over Bluetooth.
It's even easier to do with my phone though, just using the SS Android app and connecting to the radio with the bluetooth on the phone. That way I have control of the output in my pocket. Now here's a thought, can I connect multiple output devices over Bluetooth to play the same music throughout the house? There's an experiment for the next few days. Although pricey, the Bose Wave with Soundlink is ideal for doing this. I've got one in the kitchen, now I guess it's time to save for one in my bedroom.
