Subsonic Forum

Hello everyone,

I'm looking to stream video in subsonic 4.3 with .srt subtitles.
I googled a bit and found out that ffmpeg does not seem to be able to embed .srt subtitles in the video output.
Mencoder is supposed to, though.

So I tried to use mencoder as a transcoder (I'm running my test on a mkv file).
The first step, is to be able to transcode mkv to flv (without subtitles, for now).
I failed at it

I first added a symbolic link on /var/subsonic/transcode/
Then I tried to setup the following line in the Settings>Transcoding page as 1st step :

mencoder -forceidx -of lavf -oac mp3lame -lameopts abr:br=56 -srate 44100 -ovc lavc -lavcopts vcodec=flv:vbitrate=1000:mbd=2:mv0:trell:v4mv:cbp:last_pred=3 -ss %o -vf scale=%w:%h %s


It does not work...

Has anyone been able to use mencoder to transcode video streams, at least to perform what ffmpeg does ?

Any help would be appreciated.

It looks to me like the problem is mencoder not receiving an output file name, but I'm far from an expert on the matter. It seems to require the output path to be prefaced by a '-o'. If you figure something out, let us know; I'd really like to get this working myself.
