Is it possible to connect one subsonic server to another?

Postby sam1am » Thu Feb 03, 2011 4:07 pm

I have a subsonic server at home that works great. I would love to be able to have a subsonic server at work as well that pulls all the content from my home server so I can play it in jukebox mode through the web interface. Is there any way to do this?

I can't really understand what you are trying to do.

If you are trying to play the music at home while you are in the office, just go to the standard web interface (not in jukebox mode) and it will play through the soundcard of the CLIENT computer.

Jukebox Mode = Play music through the SERVER'S sound card
non-jukebox mode = Play music through the CLIENT's sound card.

Or am I misunderstanding you?

Yea so I'm trying to play music remotely (jukebox mode) on a machine in my office via the web interface. However, I want to feed that library from my home library. So basically I want subsonic to act like a subsonic client but still give me the benefits of being the server. That way I get the benefit of everyone in my office being able to use the web interface and use jukebox mode.

The alternative would be to just have a computer logged into my home subsonic server, but then everyone needs to remote desktop in to manage it.

Gotcha... so you want one computer in the office that everyone can control from their own desks, but the music is all at home. So you want a client that then serves itself up to other clients...

I don't think any of the available clients can do what you want it to do. But if you have a little coding experience, I can totally see how an applicaton like that would work... one central machine with a web server on it that makes a conenction to home (assuming you've registered) and then web pages for people to monitor/control it from...

But I don't think it exists yet.

Sorry,
