Web player completely stopped working

I have a big problem. I upgraded my Subsonic to version 4.3, and now I can not stream anything because the integrated web player does not work. The behavior is different depending on which browser I use. With Google Chrome, the plugin seems to show up as just a white rectangle and if I right click on it, it says "Movie not loaded". If I log into Subsonic with Firefox, then the player plugin doesn't even show up on the screen (i.e. it's completely missing). Can you guys suggest what I should check? I need to get this working again.

nevermind....

I got things working. Up until now, I had been using manual upgrade process, where I would simply download the new WAR file and drop it into tomcat's webapps directory, but that doesn't seem to work anymore. I downloaded the Debian .deb package and installed it, and that seems to work. It seems to use jetty for its application server instead of my Tomcat 6, so perhaps that had something to do with it. Who knows.... at least it's working again.

from 4.3 on subsonic uses JWplayer 5.4. So maybe there was the old entry in the "playlist.jsp" for the old version of JWplayer still present, causing you a headache.

Wouldn't all JSP's be replaced when I deleted the webapps/subsonic* directory and dropped in the new war file?

I just ran across this issue when upgrading to subsonic 4.5 (which appears to include an upgrade from JWplayer 5.4 to 5.6). This is how I fixed it.

I'm running tomcat 6 on centos 6, so your paths may vary. I did the normal upgrade process I always have of dropping the new war file in /var/lib/tomcat6/webapps and deleting the old deployed subsonic directory under that path. Unfortunately, JWplayer disappeared in firefox and was a white box in chrome (with the text "Movie not loaded" if you right-click on it). I ended up finding some cached files from the 4.4 install under the following path:
/var/cache/tomcat6/work/Catalina/localhost/subsonic

Deleted that directory, restarted tomcat, and JWplayer has returned :)

Hope this helps someone else.
