Error preventing search on 4.2 and 4.3, or so it seems.

when I try to do a search i get the following error shown instead of the search tab. The same message is flooding my subsonic_sh.log every now and then.
SS version: 4.3 standalone.
OS version: ubuntu karmic x86 32bit
Java version: OpenJDK Runtime Environment (IcedTea6 1.9.4) (6b20-1.9.4-0ubuntu1~9.10.1)
OpenJDK Server VM (build 19.0-b09, mixed mode)
server string from help tab: jetty-6.1.x, java 1.6.0_20, Linux (186,8 MB / 328,6 MB)
Server is running as separate user, has all permissions in SS folder.
I ran into this when I installed 4.2, then installed 4.3 over it which "fixed" it somehow. Then after putting the "subsonic pack" in, the error resurfaced. Permissions in the subsonic folder are all fine, and I cant think of much else. I tried searching for this omnious "offset" property in the files but couldnt find anything that made sense to me. Tried to delete the jetty cache and browser cache to, to no avail.
Does anyone has any ideas what could be the cause of this? (the mod probably, but others with the same setup have done this mod no problem, and I have too in the past. Only now since 4.2 does this happen. Mind you, 4.2 didnt even search without the mod so I upgraded that ASAP.
Any help is greatly appreciated, SS without search function is only half the fun, and everyone has grown so attached to it already
