4.4 Windows 7 Can't start subsonic

Postby hollowpoint » Fri Feb 11, 2011 12:42 am

Anyways,

Upgraded to 4.4 on windows 7 64 bit. Problem is once I stop the service I cannot start it again. When I go into the services area of windows and try to start subsonic I get "Windows could not start the subsonic service on local computer: Error 1 Incorrect Function" It does work if I reinstall subsonic, but only until I try to restart the service.

Anyone got any ideas?

Thanks again

Have you tried a reboot?

Indeed I have. It seems only to work after I reinstall and once I restart, it no longer works. It's windows 7 64 and I have had all the way up to 4.2 working but this latest build does not seem to play nice with my setup right now.

Any clues in the event logs? I would also consider a Jave uninstall/reinstall.

Are you attempting to restart from the SS Control Panel or the Windows Services.msc?

Yep, still no dice.
Reinstalled java and subsonic. Nothing changed, still getting the incorrect function error when trying to start through windows services and when I click start in the tray it just sits there and does nothing.

Must be a Windows issue.

Funny you mention that actually, just needed to wipe out the subsonic folder and now it works just fine. Quite odd, really.

Yup! I've consistently found that if the underlying OS is OK, a clean uninstall/reinstall of both Java and SS works just dandy. Most times, just a reinstall of SS right over the previous install cures most issues, but sometimes you really do need a CLEAN install. i.e. remove the old SS directory completely.

Glad to see you're back up!

Cheers!
