Cannot access Sourceforge with Chrome?

So, trying to resolve a separate issue I uninstalled and reinstalled Java on my Windows XP machine. That worked fine, but when I tried to connect to Sourceforge using Chrome, suddenly the page will not load. I uninstalled and reinstalled Chrome, cleared my browser history, disabled my firewall and anti-virus programs - nothing. I can access Sourceforge through IE no problem, and was able to download SS without an issue...

When I try to open Sourceforge in Chrome, it looks as though the page is going to open, but then I get the old, "Page has become unresponsive, would you like to kill it" dialog box.

I cannot figure this out. I was able to access Sourceforge prior to the reinstall of Java, and I can still access it through Chrome on my Windows 7 machine running the same iteration of Java.

Any ideas?

you might want to consider asking this at a java and/or sourceforge forum.

Yeah - it is a problem related to the new Java update - some folks over at Sourceforge are having the same problem. Apparently it goes away if you disable Java...

I assume Google will fix the problem eventually.
