Port 4040 is blocked in my job network

Due to a radical security improvement(?) upgrade in my job network, port 4040 is blocked and I can not reach this service from my job computer. How can I come around this?
I am not very competent with network issues and use a Mac an an Apple wireless router.

try switching your subsonic server to port 80. A company would never block port 80. The downside with using port 80 is that occasionally your ISP will block it. It is probably your best bet though.

Thank you for your help. I have Lighthouse (an app for port forwarding) installed on my Mac. Used it to forward port 80. This worked.
