Track numbers in external playlist file

Apologies if this has already been addressed. I searched but didn't find anything.

I have all my music files named as such:

Artist - 01 - Title.mp3
Artist - 02 - Title.mp3

And so on... Subsonic correctly orders the songs based on those numbers in the Flash player. I can play an entire album with one click and all the songs are in order.

The problem is when I play using an external player with a playlist. The playlist doesn't include the track numbers, so the external player just plays them in alphabetical order. The m3u file doesn't include track numbers, which is why I think this is more of a Subsonic issue than an issue with my external player (VLC).

Here's my m3u file:

#EXTM3U
#EXTINF:90,Artist - Title
http://myserver/blah
#EXTINF:170,Artist - Other Title
http://myserver/blah

Is there any way to get track numbers added to the m3u file?
