[SOLVED] Setting up a second server on Linux (Mint10)?

Postby jaquense » Wed Mar 02, 2011 12:35 am

Ok, I have been trying to mentally work through the process of installing a secondary music server on my linux box, but honestly I think I am just too new to linux to do it correctly, and I do not want to screw up up my main server.

Ok here are the major specifics for Mint10 (i.e. Ubuntu 10.10) running the subsonic 4.4 installed from the .deb package

Major subsonic files are stored in /var/subsonic
configs in /etc/default and /usr/share/subsonic

I am assuming that I need to copy these files/dirs creating something like
/var/subsonic2
/etc/default/subsonic2
/usr/share/subsonic2

then copy the init.d script and alter it to point to the new locations, creating a new service subsonic2. hand in hand with that would (i imagine) be the copying/editing of the /usr/bin/subsonic script (seems like the only change involved would be to point to /var/subsonic2

once i get a service running i can add the appropriate port forwarding, etc, etc.

Thoughts on the process? If sound, what the hell do i do to the subsonic startup script?

is there an easier way (not that is is all that hard hypothetically)

Much appreciated everyone

edit: forgot to include the actual bin
